Why Good Workers Get Punished?
There was an ant in a company. He entered the office at 9 am every day. Then he would sit down to work immediately without wasting time with anyone.
The amount of work he did, the company's production was high, and as a result, he lived his life happily.
The CEO of that office, Singh, was surprised to see that this ant was working a lot without any supervision. Singh thought that if the ant were given supervision by someone, he would be able to do even more work.
Within a few days, Singh appointed a cockroach as the ant's supervisor. This cockroach had long experience as a supervisor, and he could write excellent reports.
The cockroach first decided that this office should have an attendance system.
Within a few days, the cockroach felt that he needed a secretary who would help him write reports. He appointed a spider for this job who would monitor all the phone calls and organize all the documents.
The lion was very happy to see that the cockroach was giving him daily work reports and analyzing them through graphs. As a result, it was very easy to get an idea about the production trend, and the lion was getting applause by presenting them in the form of 'presentations' at the board meeting.
Within a few days, the cockroach needed a computer and a laser printer and formed an IT department to take care of them. The fly was appointed as an IT specialist.
Our employee Ant, who used to come to the office every day and work a lot and return home happily singing songs, now has to do a lot of paperwork and attend various meetings four days a week.
Due to these daily hassles, production started decreasing due to disruptions in work, and he started getting annoyed.
The lion decided that it was the right time to declare the department where the Ant works as a separate department and appoint a department head for it.
The lion appointed the cricket as the head of that department. The grasshopper ordered a comfortable carpet and chair for his room on the first day he arrived.
Within a few days, the grasshopper needed a computer and a personal assistant to create a strategic plan for the office. Although the computer was newly purchased, the grasshopper hired someone from his old office as a personal assistant.
The environment where the ant worked used to be wonderful. Now, no one talks or smiles. Everyone works very sullenly.
The grasshopper convinced Singh that a study on ‘Working Environment in the Office’ was very necessary to improve the situation.
After reviewing it, Singh saw that production in the ants’ department had decreased significantly compared to before.
So, within a few days, Singh hired the renowned consultant Owl to prepare an audit report and suggest ways to increase production.
Owl monitored the ant’s department for three months, spoke to everyone one-on-one. Then he presented a very thick report to Singh. The gist of the report was, this office is overstaffed. Let the staff be laid off.
The very next week, several employees were laid off. Tell me, who was the first to lose their jobs?
That unfortunate ant. Because the owl's report said, 'This employee has a severe lack of motivation and is always behaving negatively, which is ruining the office's working environment!'
