How does ISS move?

Shuvrangshu Shukla has finally returned to Earth after his 18-day historic space trip. But do you know what it was like for Shuvrangshu to work at the International Space Station? Why do astronauts go there, and how do they live? Have you ever wondered how the space station moves at a speed of 28,000 kilometers per hour? To know the answers to all these important and exciting questions about the International Space Station, watch the video till the end. So let's get started. The International Space Station is the last space station where astronauts land and conduct major science experiments. If you think that the International Space Station is a permanent structure in space like a railway station or an airport, then you are wrong. This space station is a temporary structure, like a huge spacecraft orbiting the Earth at a speed of 28,000 kilometers per hour. It is a mobile residence for astronauts in space where there are all kinds of facilities for astronauts to eat, sleep, defecate, etc. There are six rooms and bathrooms for astronauts to live here, the International Space Station is called ISS for short. This is a place in space from where astronauts try to unravel many mysteries related to space. The main purpose of providing human accommodation in space is. Shuvrangshu went to the International Space Station to research whether it is possible to treat cancer and prevent muscle weakness with age. This space station is present at an altitude of 403 kilometers above the Earth. Its size will be equal to two Boeing 747 planes. A team of 67 people and a few other guests can live here together. The weight of the space station is about 592 kg. It is almost as long as a football field. You will be surprised to know that this space station was not launched into space all at once.

Rather, from 1998 to 2011, 136 American rockets, Russian rockets, and Japanese rockets flew there, and their different parts were taken into space and assembled. The International Space Station is the largest and most expensive example of human technology in space. Which is more than 11,00,000 crores in Indian prices. Five countries have built this space station, including NASA of America, Roscosmos of Russia, JAXA of Japan, ESA of Europe, and CS Space Agency of Canada. The International Space Station is equipped with an oxygen generation system for oxygen. Which creates oxygen from water and eliminates the lack of oxygen in the space station. To meet the lack of water, the water vapor emitted from the urine, sweat, and breath of the astronauts is recycled with the help of the water recycling system present in the space station and turned into water again. The space station is equipped with large solar panels that generate up to 120 kilowatts of electricity, which is stored in the rechargeable batteries present in the space station. These solar panels provide electricity to various essential things for scientists and machines, such as an oxygen generation system, water recycling system, and carbon dioxide removal, which are important for astronauts. But the strangest thing is the speed of this spacecraft. The International Space Station orbits the Earth at a speed of 28,000 kilometers per hour. Here, there are 1612 sunrises and 1612 sunsets in 24 hours, meaning there are 90 minutes of day and 90 minutes of night. Many of you may have wondered at some point how this spacecraft is running at a speed of 8000 kilometers per hour without an engine. The answer to this is also related to science. The speed of the space station, 8000 km, was actually set by the rocket when the space station was launched. In this context, let me tell you that once a spacecraft reaches a certain speed in low Earth orbit, it can orbit the Earth continuously at that speed without any engine, and seven astronauts can stay on the ISS at the same time. After going to the space station, they have to stay there for at least six months.

The second group is sent there before the first group completes its stay there. Those who take the place of the old group. However, those who go as guests return to Earth much sooner. All the necessary things are delivered to all the astronauts present at the International Space Station through cargo space flights. While staying here, you cannot feel the weight of your body. Because there is no gravity here. Everything floats in the air. The strangest thing is that you will not feel any sensation whether you are upright or upside down in the space station. All the food items are sent to the space station from Earth every few days through cargo space flights. There is a commode in the toilet for defecation, which is controlled by air flow. There is a seat like a train compartment for sleeping. Where you have to lie down and tie yourself up. Because if you do not tie yourself up, you will float from side to side in the air. There are about 15 windows in the space station through which the astronauts can see outside. There is also another thing that the space station has that provides a 360-degree view. In simple terms, you can look in all directions through the window. Well, have you ever wondered why the space station never collapses, since it is in space?

To understand this answer, you first need to know about the forces that are applied to the IS. You cannot see these forces, but you can feel them, and this force can stop a moving object. You must have read Newton's law that a moving object does not change or stop until it is stopped. Two different forces work to keep the space station in its place. The first is gravity. It applies to all objects that have weight, all objects that create a force that attracts small objects towards themselves and pulls them towards themselves. For example, the gravity of our Earth. This is why none of us float in space. When we jump up, we immediately fall down. Because the gravitational force of the Earth always pulls us towards the center. When astronauts move away from the Earth, they float in space.

Because they have moved away from the gravitational force of the Earth. Here, you may be wondering why gravity is not pulling the space station back towards the Earth. To know the answer, you need to know about centrifugal force. Space stations like the International Space Station orbit the Earth at a certain speed. Due to which the centrifugal force and gravitational force are equal. Both forces create a balance called the caster bit. It will stay in space until it is stopped or the space station is stopped. For this reason, the large space station does not fall from space to the Earth. The next question is, how do astronauts return to Earth?

When astronauts return to Earth from the space station, they return in small capsules. Although only three people can return in that small capsule. The question is what will happen if the space station is not used?

According to scientists, some parts of the International Space Station can be kept in space to be used again in a new space station. However, most of it will be brought back to Earth. For this, an attempt will be made to take it closer to Earth using a rocket connected to the station at Mission Control. When it is very close to Earth, the Earth's gravity will start pulling it inward. It will turn into a fireball due to the collision with the atmosphere. Once the space station crosses the atmosphere, its burning part will hit the Pacific Ocean. So friends, let me know in the comments.
